For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon optional
- 1/2 cup 1 stick cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
Prepare the Apples: In a bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, flour or cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg (if using), and lemon juice (if using). Toss gently.
Make the Crumble Topping: In a separate bowl, combine the rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon (if using). Cut in the cold butter until crumbly.
